Help & answers
Everything you need to know before you buy.
Air Decants is a fragrance sample marketplace. You can buy directly from Air Decants, or from a curated network of independent decanters — specialists who source, portion, and ship genuine samples from niche, obscure, and hard-to-find fragrances from around the world.
Instead of committing to a full bottle blind, you can smell the real thing first — on your own skin, over a full day — before you decide.
Air Decants operates as both a direct seller and a marketplace. Alongside our own listings, we allow a select group of independent decanters to sell on the platform — but not just anyone. Every third-party decanter was personally vetted before being given access.
Our vetting process looks at their sourcing practices, their track record, and their history of sales across various platforms — including online fragrance communities and marketplaces where reputation is everything. We only bring on decanters who have demonstrated consistency and trustworthiness over time.
They're not warehouses. They're people who care deeply about fragrance and take pride in every sample they send out.
Yes. Every sample on Air Decants is decanted from a genuine, full bottle of the fragrance. Our decanters do not sell clones, dupes, or imitations — only the real thing, portioned into sample sizes.
A decant is a small portion of fragrance transferred from a full retail bottle into a separate, smaller container — typically a glass vial or atomizer, though plastic containers are also used. Decants are not produced or packaged by the original fragrance brand or manufacturer. They are created by independent enthusiasts or small-batch specialists who own the full bottle and portion it out for others to sample.
This means a decant won't come in the original brand packaging, and the container won't have the designer label on it. What you're getting is the same juice — the exact same fragrance — just without the box, the bottle, or the brand markup.
Decanting is a long-standing practice in the fragrance community, built on the idea that no one should have to spend hundreds of dollars on a bottle they've never smelled.
Sizes vary by decanter and fragrance, but most listings offer 1 ml, 2 ml, 5 ml, and 10 ml options. A 1–2 ml sample is typically enough for 2–4 full wears, which is plenty to decide whether a fragrance is right for you.
Samples are typically shipped in glass atomizers or vials, wrapped securely to prevent breakage in transit. Packaging specifics depend on the individual decanter, but all are required to ship samples in leak-proof, travel-safe containers.
That's exactly what we're here for. Air Decants specializes in niche, obscure, and limited-availability fragrances — the kind you can't just walk into a department store and smell. Our decanters actively seek out bottles that are hard to access, so you don't have to.
Shipping times depend on the decanter's location and the shipping option you select at checkout. Most domestic orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Each listing shows estimated shipping times and available carriers.
Yes. You can add samples from multiple decanters to your cart and check out in one transaction. Each decanter fulfills and ships their portion of your order separately, so you may receive multiple packages.
International availability depends on the individual decanter. Some decanters ship worldwide; others are domestic only. Shipping options and destinations are shown on each listing before you add to cart.
Please note that importing fragrances may be subject to customs regulations in your country. You are responsible for any duties or import fees.
If your order arrives damaged or with the wrong fragrance, your first step is to contact the seller directly. Each decanter on Air Decants sets their own return and resolution policy, so the outcome will depend on their terms. You can find the seller's policy on their profile or listing page.
If the damage is due to carrier mishandling — crushed packaging, a package marked as delivered that never arrived, or visible damage caused in transit — this is typically covered by the carrier's shipping protection. Most carriers have a claims process you can file directly, and your seller may be able to assist with that as well.
If you're having trouble getting a resolution, reach out through our contact page and we'll do our best to help.
Because fragrance samples are personal-use items, we generally cannot accept returns. However, if there's an issue with your order — damage, incorrect item, or a quality concern — we'll always work with you to find a resolution. See our return policy for full details.
Yes — some fragrance pages on Air Decants include links to purchase the full bottle from retailers like Amazon, Jomashop, FragranceNet, and others. These may be affiliate links, which means Air Decants may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.
These links are provided purely as a convenience. We only link to legitimate retailers, and our recommendations are never influenced by affiliate relationships — a fragrance earns its place on this platform based on merit, not monetization.
